Tories Reject 3000 Child Refugees
Labour anti Semitic, Tories racist bastards. It's a funny old world.

On Monday night MPs voted by 294 votes to 276 to reject a plan for Britain to accept 3,000 unaccompanied Syrian child refugees who had travelled to Europe.
The Labour amendment to the Immigration Bill was rejected by 294 to 276.
Ministers argued that offering sanctuary to lone children who have already reached Europe could mean more fall into the hands of traffickers.

Nice one Cameron.

3000 children to grow into 3000 adults who will hate us with a passion.

France is a modern western country in fact probably a better place to live than here giving the room they have, why do they need rescuing from there, also are you telling me thousands of "kids" have managed to get thousands of miles across the world on their own but now need rescuing. The minute they enter the uk their so called families will appear wanting to be re-United

'It was no strawman, though. It wasnt that long ago that the children of the south east were seeking shelter of strangers lands to escape bombings and destruction...I doubt had you been around then, that you would have been so willing to accept that "Its too much of a cost that others have to pay'.'

Yes, because voluntarily and temporarily taking into your own home the well-documented and identifiable children of your own countrymen, united in common cause in time of war is EXACTLY the same thing as having permanently foisted upon you by the government people of indeterminate age and uncertain foreign origin many of whom don't speak English and whose parents in general hate everything your society stands for.

There is NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL.

Re: Tories Reject 3000 Child Refugees
You only SAY "bring them all to Cornwall" because you KNOW that would never happen. So you get all those warm, fuzzy feelings of righteousness at NO cost to yourself. And that is my point.

The children are only terrified because their parents have placed them in extrme danger. A walk over to the official refugee camps in Jordan would have seen them safe. Or staying put in Turkey. This ks the fault of their parents, and you want to cause more of it to happen, and more kids to suffer, by showing these useless, greedy parents that their reckless actions will pay off.

But the most important thing is YOU get to feel triffic about yourself.

This is why no one talks and debates here any more...

Opposite points of view are just shouted down or ridiculed rather than talked to...

Enjoy your day people.

I agree which us why Dubai Saudi et all should take the refugee's.

Re: Tories Reject 3000 Child Refugees

Send them all here to Cornwall, thats fine by me.

I would sooner that than the alternatives...Those kids must be terrified.

If that makes me a self-righteous do-gooder, so be it. Im past caring what others think, I'll go with my conscience every day.

Tough call.

Re: Tories Reject 3000 Child Refugees
Compassion that comes at a high price, which you would happily force others to pay, in order to make yourself feel better and righteous.

In common with every self-righteous do-gooder out there, you know you will not be affected or incommoded in any way if you managed to force your will on the rest of us (how is HIGHLY DIVERSE CORNWALL, by the way? ) because you have parachuted out of ground zero to somewhere rather more agreeable. In the case of Cumberbatch and his absurd lovey cohorts, their money insulates them from the worst of it and they can escape whenever they choose. Unlikely their kids will end up at the local comp with the stabby Somalis.

To sum up: your smug righteousness costs you nothing, but reaps dividends in terms of how you get to feel great about yourself and how you present yourself to others. No doubt there is some social medium on which you hold forth and are a bit of a star.

I don't think I presented my extreme cynicism as a virtue, by the way. Nice straw man, though.

Why is it a problem?

Why cant it be a massive fuck of great pleasure to actually help people in need?, we might need helping out one day.

Why does it have to be a negative label attached

You can reduce everything noble to Virtue Signalling and claim that every humanitarian action ultimately results in some negative impact.

I dont buy it.

Actually, luring millions more children to their deaths in the cold, murky waters of the Mediterranean is all about Siren-like virtue-signalling and has very little to do with compassion.

Do you spend you days sniping at people who try and do better?

When did it become a virtue to have a go at people who try and do something else other than moan ?

Its not about righteousness , its compassion...
